– Jogamos contra um time muito bem armado, sobretudo defensivamente. Um time muito forte, que faz poucos gols, mas recebe pouquíssimos gols também. Em uma bobeira nossa, fizeram 1 a 0 e tivemos de correr atrás do resultado, o que é sempre complicado. Fomos guerreiros por conseguir o empate. Mark Wallace was the main contributor, hitting a fluent 82 from 96 deliveries before he was last out driving David Masters to long on with the bowler finishing with 5 for 73.Wallace’s effort included two sixes and six fours, after opener Gareth Rees had struck a resolute 54 from 125 balls. Rees was trapped leg before by slow left-arm spinner Tim Phillips, who also removed William Bragg for 48 and Michael Powell for 33 on his way to figures of 4 for 97.The fast bowler beat the bat on a few occasions without reward and also saw Lonwabo Tsotsobe put down a simple catch at mid-on offered by Powell. Ralf Rangnick’s side have the opportunity to make some progress in the Premier League if they can seal a victory over the Gunners this afternoon – with the Red Devils currently sitting in 6th, three points behind both Tottenham and Arsenal.

With that in mind, the interim boss must get into the game early and select the right players to give Manchester United the best chance of taking all three points from The Emirates home today, and one player who should not be near the starting line-up is Marcus Rashford.

Rashford was shocking in the midweek clash at Anfield, with the 24-year-old making just 11 passes and having no attempts at goal over the 90 minutes of the humiliating 4-0 defeat – with this performance not being a one-off for the winger this season.

The £180k-per-week flop was dubbed “absolutely terrible” by Glen Waddle following Man United’s exit from the Champions League last month: “Marcus Rashford looked absolutely terrible when he came on. Why do they keep playing him when he doesn’t want to be there, supposedly? I don’t get that.”

Rashford has only managed four goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, while averaging a shocking 0.5 shots on target per game, losing the majority of his ground and aerial duels (65%) and missing two big chances in his 23 appearances, proving that there is no way Rangnick should be relying on the winger in the game today.

Luckily, the German coach confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will be available for selection and is back in training following compassionate leave, which means Rangnick can deploy a front three of Jadon Sancho, Ronaldo and Anthony Elanga instead – leaving Rashford on the bench.

The return of Ronaldo will surely give this lacklustre Man United team the vital boost they need to have an advantage in getting the victory in North London this afternoon, and the opportunity should not be squandered to close the gap on their opponents in the league table by starting players who can’t be relied on in this important clash.

Celtic regained their six-point advantage at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a 2-0 win over Ross County on Sunday afternoon. 

Ange Postecoglou made three changes from the side that started against Rangers at Hampden Park last weekend, with Anthony Ralston, Matt O’Riley and Kyogo Furuhashi coming in for Josip Juranovic, Tom Rogic and Liel Abada respectively.

It was Furuhashi who opened the scoring in the early stages with a fine header, his first goal since returning from injury, and Jota sealed the victory late on.

The Transfer Tavern have now used statistical experts SofaScore to analyse who the three worst outfield performers (to have played at least 45 minutes) were for the visitors on the day, with these three combined losing possession 42 times and coming second best in 71% of their duels.

Reo Hatate – 6.3/10

Hatate was the worst-rated performer on Sunday, ending with a rating of 6.3/10. The January signing was taken off with just over 15 minutes remaining for David Turnbull after losing all five of his duels and giving the ball away 14 times.

The midfielder failed to complete a dribble, make a tackle, interception or have a shot on target, making it an afternoon to forget on a personal note.

Daizen Maeda – 6.5/10

Maeda turned out on the wing but didn’t catch the eye in his 65-minute display. The versatile forward was eventually replaced by Tom Rogic and gave possession away on 10 occasions.

He also lost five of his eight duels, missed a big chance and was unsuccessful in 66% of his dribbles, ending with a rating of 6.5/10.

Callum McGregor – 6.8/10

McGregor is the third and final inclusion, ending with a rating of 6.8/10. The Scot gave the ball away 18 times and lost two of his four duels.

He also failed to make a clearance all afternoon and managed just one tackle, while four of his five attempted long balls were misplaced.
