Pundit Noel Whelan has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur winger Jack Clarke may not have a future at the club, amid suggestions he could be farmed out on loan again in 2021/22.

The Lowdown: Spurs face an intriguing 2021/22 season

Looking towards 2021/22, Spurs fans will be desperate to see how newly appointed Nuno Espirito Santo sculpts his squad, as they look to challenge for qualification to one of Europe’s elite competition this time around.

Acquiring high-profile signings will be important to this, but development of current players will also be a crucial factor in Nuno’s progression at the club.

Despite this, one man who former striker Whelan believes may not be a part of this process is 20-year-old Clarke

The Latest: Whelan questions Clarke as he gets set to depart on loan

Clarke looks set to be sent out on loan for the forthcoming campaign unless he works his way into Nuno’s plans come pre-season [Alasdair Gold, Football London].

Speaking about the prospects of the tricky winger in an interview with Football Insider, Whelan stated: “I’m not sure if he has a future at Tottenham.

“The fact that he keeps getting sent out on loan suggests to me that he doesn’t have a long-term future there. It is a really difficult one.

“He was fantastic for Leeds but you could see that there were a few frailties in his game. The big question was whether he could make that step up to the top flight so early in his career.

“He has loads of talent but sometimes the mental side of the game is more important than a step-over. You need to work tirelessly every day and put yourself in a position where the manager cannot ignore you.

“Another season where the pressure is on. He needs to prove that he is good enough to play for Tottenham.

“Right now is crunch time for him. You cannot keep going out on loan every season.”

The Verdict: Loan move is not the end

Whelan correctly points out the pressures players need to come under in order to succeed at the highest level of football, but that doesn’t mean the youngster is running out of time in north London.

In 2020/21, he made a combined 25 appearances for Spurs, Spurs Under-23’s and Stoke City, who he spent the second half of the campaign on loan with. He registered five goal contributions; two goals and three assists [Transfermarkt].

Age is still on his side though and he has lots of time to develop into a top-class asset – every player develops at a different rate.

All things considered, frequent first-team football may suit the Englishman best and if Nuno likes what he sees from afar then another temporary move could be what pushes Clarke into the manager’s plans in 2022.

Aston Villa are preparing a bid to bring Tammy Abraham to Villa Park this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by The Mirror, who claim that Dean Smith’s side are willing to spend £40m on the Chelsea centre-forward.

Abraham has been told he is free to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window as he does not feature in Thomas Tuchel’s long term plans.

The report continues by stating that Smith would like to get his transfer business wrapped up as early as possible this summer, with it also being suggested that the Blues are expecting a Villa bid for the 23-year-old imminently.

Despite falling down the Chelsea attacking pecking order following the arrival of Tuchel in west London earlier this year, Abraham proved in the first half of the Blues’ campaign that he has what it takes to find the back of the net on a regular basis in the top flight of English football.

Indeed, over his 22 Premier League appearances last season, only 12 of which came as starts, the England international scored six goals, registered one assist and created one big chance for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 1.5 shots and making 0.4 key passes per game.

These returns saw the £82k-per-week striker earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.88, a rating that would have undoubtedly been higher if it were not for a number of late in the game substitutions in the second half of the season.

Interestingly, those six goals saw him only second to the club’s penalty-taker, Jorginho (seven), for goals scored in the Premier League this season.

Furthermore, another reason why the £45m-rated man would seem to fit the bill for Villa is down the to fact that Abraham has played under Smith before, with the forward thriving for Villa during a loan spell at the club back in 2018/19.

That season, the man whom assistant manager John Terry dubbed an “incredible” striker scored a whopping 25 goals, provided three assists and created three big chances over his 37 Championship appearances, seeing the 23-year-old earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 7.21 – ranking him as Villa’s second-best performer in the second tier of English football.

The England international has also been lauded as a “phenomenal player” by Alex McLeish to Football Insider and once earned lofty comparisons to a Stamford Bridge and English football great in Didier Drogba.

As such, should Johan Lange and Villa go on to get a deal over the line for Abraham this summer, it would very much appear to be a transfer that Smith would absolutely love.

They must look to sanction this move.

The eventual winners of the stableford competition were Mike Smith, Chris Perkins, Mike Perry and Ian Blackwell, who finished with a tremendous 97 points.A nine hole putting competition was also held, which was won by Keith Bigwood. – Cada caso é diferente, mas claro que poderiam sempre usar mais quem está subindo. Isso, porém, depende da necessidade na posição, né? Uns acabam tendo oportunidade, outros são negociados sem nem ao menos ter atuado direito… É questão de estar no lugar certo e na hora certa.

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) penchant for hiring foreigners took another twist when it re-engaged English-born South Africa-based Richard Pybus as national team’s coach for the tour of England.”Pybus will join the team in England on Wednesday. And though his initial assignment is for the England tour. It is extendable, if mutually agreed,” director of the PCB Munawwar Rana said.The 40-year-old Pybus, who replaces former captain Javed Miandad, last served as Pakistan coach in 1999. As per SofaScore, the Brazilian would earn an excellent 8.4/10 match rating for his display, which was only bettered by De Bruyne (9.1) and Aguero (8.9).

During the game, Fernandinho would have 84 touches of the ball and would impressively complete 65/69 of his passes, resulting in a 94% success rate, which is a big improvement on the 87.2% he has averaged in the Premier League this season.

The veteran midfielder would also complete four key passes during the game, which is far more than the 0.7 he has averaged per game in the top-flight this campaign, which helped him to pick up two assists for Aguero’s goals, as he robbed Tom Davies for the first, before putting in a superb cross for him to head home a second.

He was also solid from a defensive perspective, managing three interceptions and two tackles, which again is more than the 1.1 interceptions and 1.5 tackles he has averaged this season.

Therefore, the “magnificent” midfielder has emphasised just how much quality he still has, and should have nailed down a starting spot for the Champions League final against Chelsea later this month.

Many West Ham United fans have demanded that Craig Dawson start for the Hammers against Burnley in the Premier League on Monday night.

The Irons face Sean Dyche’s men as they continue their fight for a spot in European football next season. As it stands, they are sixth in the table, but a win would see them move above Tottenham into fifth place.
