Man City: The Times make De Jong claim

Manchester City are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to a report from The Times.

The lowdown: End of an era

This comes following the revelation that defensive midfield stalwart Fernandinho will be leaving the Etihad at the end of the season.

Out of contract in July, the 37-year-old announced he will move onto pastures new in the summer, bringing an end to a memorable nine-year affinity with the club in the process.

Now, it appears that the Citizens have wasted little time in seeking out a replacement…

The latest: De Jong ‘top’ priority

As per The Times, City are eyeing De Jong as a successor to the experienced Brazilian holding midfielder.

It’s claimed that the 24-year-old is the ‘top’ priority for Pep Guardiola and it seems Txiki Begiristain will not be messing around as the manager wants three new signings this transfer window – they made just one last summer.

The report states that De Jong – who was recently hailed as ‘extraordinary’ by Xavi – is one of ‘several targets’ for City, and Barcelona could be willing to sanction the sale should bids of £60million be forthcoming.

The verdict: No brainer

This season has been a transitional one at Camp Nou for the most part, however, ex-Ajax man De Jong has still managed to impress with four goals and five assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.

When using the FBref comparison tool, the Dutchman shares stylistic similarities to current City star Ilkay Gundogan and Ballon D’Or winner Luka Modric, suggesting a willingness to create as well as perform the defensive work.

Taking all of this into account, signing the 40-cap Holland ace would be a superb piece of business from Txiki as the club continue to strive for that elusive Champions League trophy.

Spurs handed boost in Depay pursuit

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a huge boost in their bid to bring Memphis Depay to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window.

What’s the word?

That’s according to a report by Spanish publication Sport, who claim that Barcelona are now willing to part with the centre-forward at the end of the current campaign, while the Netherlands international himself is also believed to be happy to move onto pastures new this summer.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-spurs-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-and-much-more” title= “Read the latest Spurs news!”]

This is sure to come as a huge boost to Fabio Paratici and Spurs, who were reported to have made the LaLiga side an offer for the 28-year-old back in March, with it now appearing as if the Italian sporting director has something of a free run at the former Lyon forward.

Paratici must move

While it is true that, following his June 2021 switch to the Camp Nou, Depay has somewhat struggled to hold down a place in the Barca starting XI, the centre-forward would nevertheless make an extremely impressive addition to Antonio Conte’s current attacking options at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Indeed, over his 25 LaLiga appearances this season – only 18 of which have come as starts – the £42.75m-rated striker has highly impressed, scoring 11 goals, registering two assists and creating five big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 2.3 shots, making 1.8 key passes and completing 1.6 dribbles per game.

These returns have seen the £158k-per-week forward who Marco van Basten dubbed a “special talent” average a highly impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.29, not only ranking him as Xavi’s third-best performer in the league but also as the 11th-best player in the division as a whole.

And, with Tottenham having been desperately lacking back up to and competition for Harry Kane in recent years, the signing of a player who possesses Depay’s particular skillset in the final third would very much appear to be something of a priority for Paratici and Conte this summer.

As such, with it being reported that the 28-year-old will be available for a very reasonable €40m (£34m) in the summer transfer window, Paratici simply must take advantage of Barcelona’s willingness to sanction Depay’s sale, as the Dutchman could finally solve Spurs’ lack of depth up top.

Liverpool could replace Salah with Saka

Liverpool are having a phenomenal season already winning the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, with the chance to win both the Premier League title and Champions League over the next few weeks too, so it will surely be an exciting time to be a player or a supporter of the club.

With that being said, to stay on top you must keep strengthening, improving and developing the squad and with many of Liverpool’s side already in or entering their 30s this year, it would be a good idea for Jurgen Klopp to start considering the next generation of talent he can develop into superstars.

Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane all have contracts ending in just over 12 months, with the Egyptian winger’s contract, in particular, being a highly speculated subject ahead of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool’s top goal-scorer has been one of the side’s best players over the years but it seems that his contract is at a stalemate, with Caught Offside reporting two weeks ago that a source has told them the negotiations have not progressed any further and the Reds are not interested in budging when it comes to their strict wage structure.

If the powers at Anfield and Salah can’t come to an agreement it could see the player leave the club, whether that means he will be sold for a profit this summer or allowed to see out his last 12 months at the club and leave on a free transfer next summer.

Regardless of the outcome, Klopp must start preparing for the worst-case scenario and could be eyeing up his replacement who already plays in the Premier League with Bukayo Saka heavily linked with Liverpool for a while now.

The £150m ace who was hailed a “wonderkid” by journalist James Benge has been impressing for Arsenal and England over the last 12 months, playing his part in the Euro 2020 final last summer and being part of Arsenal’s impressive season that has kept them in the top four race for months.

Saka has scored 11 goals and contributed six assists for the Gunners in 37 Premier League appearances, creating eight big chances, making 1.8 key passes and 1.1 tackles, proving how effective and creative he can be in attacking play.

Podcaster Ian McGarry even claimed back in January that the youngster fits into Liverpool’s system in an interview with talkSPORT:

“Saka is someone who is a player who suits Liverpool’s style.

“Liverpool would provide the opportunity and platform for him to play and compete at the highest level. And that would certainly be something that I’m told he and his representatives are very interested in.”

Ultimately, Saka will likely want to continue to play first-team football and get regular game time whether he stays at Arsenal or moves on, so if FSG are seriously interested in the young talent they will need to sacrifice a position in the attacking rotation to provide him with a regular spot in the team.

Perhaps they ought to wait until Salah really has had enough of Merseyside before making a move.

Ethan Bamber, Tim Murtagh claim four each as Middlesex take upper hand

Derbyshire nine down and 81 behind, despite du Plooy’s stylish 90

ECB Reporters' Network31-Aug-2021Derbyshire 201 for 9 (du Plooy 90, Bamber 4-37, Murtagh 4-60) trail Middlesex 282 (White 120, Andersson 53) by 81 runsEthan Bamber claimed four wickets for the first time this season as Middlesex got the upper hand on day two against Derbyshire at Lord’s.The Seaxes’ young seamer returned 4 for 37 and with skipper Tim Murtagh weighing in with 4 for 60 they reduced the visitors to 201 for 9, still 81 behind, a deficit which would have been far greater but for Leus du Plooy’s stylish 90.Earlier, Robbie White reached 120 in the host’s tally of 282, Sam Conners taking 3 for 65.The hosts began the day on 218 for 5 with centurion White still at the crease, but once John Simpson edged Anuj Dal to slip to end a stand of 79, a clatter of wickets began.Toby Roland-Jones hit his first competitive ball since April for four before Dal caught and bowled him and Bamber swept Matt Critchley into the hands of deep square.White’s long vigil ended when he nicked Conners to slip to give the paceman his third wicket and only a few lusty blows from Thilan Walallawita, including a straight six, lifted the hosts beyond 280.But Bamber had Derbyshire 22 for 2 by lunch, skipper Billy Godleman slashing loosely to slip, and Tom Wood castled by a peach of a ball which pitched on middle and hit off.The afternoon session was a microcosm of why both sides have struggled this season as Derbyshire’s top order largely got themselves out before Middlesex let them off the hook.Luis Reece swished loosely to be taken at slip and Critchley’s feet looked stuck in cement as he fell lbw, both to Murtagh who then had Alex Hughes caught from one that bounced off a length. When Brooke Guest flashed lazily at Martin Andersson the visitors were 76 for 6 and in danger of being ousted for less than 150 for the ninth time in 13 attempts.Du Plooy however stood firm and helped by a number of friendly offerings moved to 50 in only 57 balls with 10 fours. He found an ally in Dal (48) who made his highest score of a wretched season. The pair added 91 either side of the tea break, before Murtagh again made the breakthrough, ending du Plooy’s fine innings via an edge through to the diving Simpson.Bamber then returned to bowl Dal and have Alex Thomson caught behind before bad light ended play 20 overs early.

Danni Wyatt sets about finding new niche in style

Batter embraces middle-order role with crucial 63* in win over New Zealand

Valkerie Baynes19-Sep-2021In her 200th game for England, Danni Wyatt set about finding her new niche with a middle-order performance that sealed Player of the Match honours and an unlikely victory for her team.Wyatt’s aggressive style makes her a natural T20 opener but, having struggled to get an ODI game this summer, she came in to No. 7 to replace the resting Katherine Brunt with devastating effect in the second of five 50-over matches against New Zealand in Worcester. Her 63 not out included a record 10th-wicket stand of 51 with Tash Farrant and helped lift England from 85 for 5 to what proved to be a surprisingly defendable 197 all out when Charlie Dean took four wickets in just her second game to bowl New Zealand out well short of their target of 183, revised on the DLS method.”I had a lot of time out there and had to get my head down and bat for the team,” Wyatt said. “I thought, ‘I’ve just got to knock it around, build partnerships and bat long’, which is what I talked about with batting coach Jon Lewis just before I went in so I’m really chuffed with how it went today.”Related

It was Wyatt’s 78th ODI but her first since England’s winter tour to New Zealand in February, when she opened alongside Tammy Beaumont. Since then, Lauren Winfield-Hill has partnered Beaumont at the top of the order in ODIs against India and New Zealand. In fact, Wyatt was struggling for T20I runs until her series-sealing 89 not out in the final match against India at Chelmsford in mid-July, her first fifty in the format in 19 innings going back to December 2019.In ODIs, Wyatt has played 30 innings batting in the middle order – most recently during the 2019 Ashes – scoring 519 runs in all at an average of 22.56. That compares to 465 runs in 23 innings as an opener at 20.21 and her overall tally of 1109 runs at 20.16.As an allrounder, Brunt’s return changes the balance of the side and, in Thursday’s opening ODI, she played a match-turning role of her own with bat and ball. Asked whether her own knock on Sunday posed a selection headache, Wyatt was circumspect.”It’s not down to me but all I want to do now is keep scoring runs whenever I’m out there in the middle feeling in good nick,” she said. “I’ve changed a few things technically and it seems to be going well at the minute so hopefully it continues.”I’ve been training really well and been speaking a lot with Jon Lewis and [head coach] Lisa Keightley about my game and possible role in the team, which is middle-order now… it was really good to get some runs and show everyone what I can do in the middle order.”Wyatt admitted she “didn’t run well” in a mix-up that saw she and Winfield-Hill stranded at the non-striker’s end, the latter unfortunate to be run out for 39 when bowler Leigh Kasperek threw the ball to wicketkeeper Katey Martin after Wyatt had retreated halfway through a second run.”I didn’t think too much, I just went out there and batted, just hit the bad ball and ran well, although I didn’t run well with Lauren,” Wyatt said, having told Sky Sports she’d given her team-mate a hug in apology.Danni Wyatt and Lauren Winfield-Hill end up at the same end•Getty Images

Sophie Devine, the New Zealand captain, said the defeat was tough to take but praised Wyatt’s efforts. Having been 111 for 4 when rain stopped play, the White Ferns were all out for 169 as England won by 13 runs with 18 balls to spare.”We need to have an honest look at ourselves and at how we’re going to win games like that because I back the side to win that sort of chase nine times out of 10,” Devine said.”You’ve got to give a bit of credit to their batters, they went all right. Danni Wyatt was a bit of a pest for them, working with their lower order. That’s one of the things we’re going to have to have a look at in terms of how we’re going to kill off games like that. We were close, we just obviously weren’t close enough.”In the opening match in Bristol, Amy Satterthwaite got New Zealand within reach of England after a top-order collapse had the tourist staring down a much heavier defeat.Devine has moved down the order to No. 5 in this ODI series, a position she hasn’t played since 2018. She said there was no likelihood of her playing a floating role after her side struggled again with the bat.”I’m a solid No. 5,” Devine said. “We’ve spoken at length as a leadership group and the coaching staff as well around what’s best for this team and for me that’s batting at No. 5.”I guess we haven’t shown it yet because we haven’t been able to piece it all together, but I’m really comfortable and confident in batting at No. 5. I’m really excited about the opportunity and I think with the rest of the squad that we’ve got, it makes for a greatly balanced side.”

Peirson century and Steketee 10-wicket haul in vain as South Australia hold out

Half-centuries from Jake Carder and Alex Carey ensured South Australia survived

Alex Malcolm18-Oct-2021Jimmy Peirson produced his second century of the season and Mark Steketee claimed a career-best 10-wicket haul but Queensland fell four wickets short of a stunning come-from-behind victory at Adelaide Oval as South Australia held on in an enthralling draw.Jake Carder and Alex Carey produced fighting half-centuries, with Carey finishing 66 not out to hold off a desperate Bulls’ attack late on the final day.Queensland made a bold declaration after Peirson dashed to his second century of the season and his third in the past 12 months. He has made three centuries and four half-centuries in his last 12 Sheffield Shield innings, and averaged 59.63, to add his name to the list of wicketkeeper-batter candidates to replace Tim Paine in the Test side whenever the Australia captain retires.Peirson and Usman Khawaja continued their fine partnership sharing a 195-run stand. Both men played with aggression on the final morning to set up the declaration. Khawaja fell for 174 to a fine catch at midwicket while Peirson raced to 132 before holing out at deep midwicket with the lead at 323. Khawaja immediately declared giving South Australia two-and-a-half sessions and more than 80 overs to chase the target. The hosts lost Henry Hunt early with Carder and Nathan McSweeney put under extreme pressure as Steketee and Jack Wildermuth gave away just 10 runs in the first 10 overs. But the pair found their groove and put together an 88-run stand to give South Australia a platform with plenty of time remaining. However, McSweeney was incorrectly adjudged lbw off an inside edge on 32, giving Steketee his ninth wicket of the match. Carder pushed on, taking a liking to Queensland’s two spinners. He moved to 79 before making a mistake, spooning a return catch to Matt Kuhnemann. That brought Travis Head and Alex Carey together with 194 to win and more than 50 overs remaining. But Steketee snuffed out nearly all of South Australia’s hopes when he removed Head for the second time in the match to secure his first career 10-wicket haul. Head was caught at midwicket chipping a length ball off his pads.Carey kept the runs flowing but when Harry Neilsen holed at deep square for 13, South Australia shut up shop. Nathan McAndrew faced 30 balls before scoring and chewed up 66 in total to get to the second new ball. Queensland were frustrated by the pair and the umpires making several frivolous appeals an over, with Marnus Labuschagne particularly exasperated that none of the appeals off his bowling were upheld.Wildermuth knocked over McAndrew with a peach in his first over with the second new ball, but Carey and Daniel Worrall held out as shadows lengthened across the ground in 89th over of the innings.

Azeem Rafiq set to give evidence before DCMS as pressure mounts on Yorkshire

Club comes in for criticism from government over handling of report into allegations of racism

George Dobell03-Nov-2021The full details of Azeem Rafiq’s allegations of racism at Yorkshire are set to come to light after he was called to give evidence to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) select committee.Roger Hutton, the chair of Yorkshire, Mark Arthur, the chief executive, and Martyn Moxon, the club’s director of cricket, have also been called to provide evidence. The hearing will be held on November 16.Yorkshire spent many months waiting for a team of lawyers to compile a report into Rafiq’s allegations of racism at the club. Once it was completed, however, Yorkshire decided the contents were too controversial to publish and, despite admitting Rafiq was “the victim of inappropriate behaviour” and detailing failures in following their own procedures, announced that no player, coach or official would face sanctions.Subsequently, however, the report was leaked to ESPNcricinfo and, once details were published, the public backlash persuaded various political figures to intervene. These details included incidents of a fellow player referring to Rafiq as a “P**i” on numerous occasions. The panel reviewing the information concluded that Rafiq should have appreciated this was no more than “banter” and didn’t believe his alleged upset was genuine. This led to UK health secretary Sajid Javid calling for “heads to roll” at Yorkshire, while culture secretary Nadine Dorries labelled Rafiq’s treatment “disgusting”. A spokesperson for Boris Johnson, the prime minister, said the language used against Rafiq was “racist” and “should never be used in any context whatsoever”.Related

  • Rafiq calls for removal of Yorkshire senior management

Perhaps most pertinently, the chair of the DCMS select committee, Julian Knight, called for the entire board of the club to resign. Knight has the power to call all involved to give evidence to the committee of MPs. The conclusions of his panel will prove hard to ignore.”Given the endemic racism at Yorkshire County Cricket Club,” Knight wrote on Twitter, “I struggle to think of any reason why that the board should remain in post. This is one of the most repellent and disturbing episodes in modern cricket history.”While Hutton, Arthur and Moxon may be in for an uncomfortable ride when the DCMS session begins, it is perhaps the testimony of Rafiq that promises to reveal the most. While he has been limited in what he can say as his employment tribunal and the Yorkshire investigation took place, Rafiq is likely to be protected by parliamentary privilege when talking to DCMS and is thought unlikely to spare any detail. As a result, some significant figures in the history of Yorkshire and England cricket are likely to be sitting extremely uneasily.Hutton’s testimony may also be revealing. He didn’t join Yorkshire until April 2020, long after the period to which these allegations relate, and retained a relatively good relationship with Rafiq. He had originally indicated a desire to see the full report published but, in the face of strong opposition from a couple of his key executives and some legal advice which suggested to do so would risk libel actions, was eventually persuaded to take a different approach. He is seen, by the ECB and to some extent Rafiq, as a reforming influence at the club and is still thought to want to see the contents of the report published.

His relationship with his senior executives has clearly deteriorated, however. Some of them feel the club should have fought the allegations more aggressively and resent Hutton’s attempts at contrition. As a result of the disagreement within the senior management, the club has neither effectively refuted the allegations nor accepted fault. Hutton was understood to be considering his position. Were he to step down, it seems a familiar face could replace him. Colin Graves, the former ECB chair, is understood to have let it be known that he would be prepared to return to the club. Graves was also chair of Yorkshire for some of the period in which Rafiq was at the club. There would be some irony in Hutton’s departure, as it would leave in place two of the officials who came in for some of the fiercest criticism in the report. The pair were found to be “dismissive of the concerns of race discrimination” raised by Rafiq. They were also accused in the report of demonstrating “insufficient concern” that one of the club’s “players may have felt racially discriminated against”. This convinced the panel that they were “dismissive of Azeem’s concerns”.Both remain in high-profile positions at the club and are understood to have been among the small group who reviewed the final report and decided not to share its contents.Elsewhere in the report, a former Yorkshire and England player – who no longer represents the club – is found to have engaged in behaviour which “amounted to bullying”. He is cleared of serious misconduct, however, as the panel concluded his motivations were not racist. The panel was chaired by Samir Pathak, surgeon and trustee of the MCC Foundation, and included Mesba Ahmed, vice-chairman of the National Asian Cricket Council, Rehana Azib, an employment barrister, Helen Hyde, the former Waitrose personnel director and Stephen Willis, CFO of Durham University and the senior independent director of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.Meanwhile Roger Pugh, the former chair of the Yorkshire South Premier League, has been proposed as Head of the Premier Section of the league. Pugh was obliged to stand down in September 2020 when he reacted to news of Rafiq’s struggles, including his suicidal thoughts and the loss of a child, by saying he was “discourteous, disrespectful and very difficult”. He then invoked a biblical phrase to suggest a karmic element to Rafiq’s plight, writing “as ye sow so shall ye reap”.Azeem Rafiq has spoken out about racism at Yorkshire•Getty Images

Pugh was proposed for the role by Barnsley Woolley Miners CC, whose own chair, Phillip Chapman, was criticised for saying a rival club’s overseas player reminded him of a street-seller he had encountered while on holiday. The news will do nothing to assuage the growing doubts at the ECB about the culture of cricket in the region. Having only had the Yorkshire report for a few days – the club refused to hand it over until the ECB threated to prosecute them for bringing the game into disrepute – they are still getting to grips with the key facts. The board is likely to speak to dozens of witnesses before coming to any conclusions so any report could be some months away.”Last week we received Yorkshire’s report into the racism and bullying allegations Azeem Rafiq made against the club,” the ECB said in a statement on Tuesday evening. “We are conscious about the length of time that Azeem has waited for resolution and the toll that must be taking on his wellbeing and that of his family. We are sorry that, as a sport, this has not yet been resolved.”We will conduct a full regulatory process that is fair to all parties, but also ensure this happens as quickly as possible. To achieve this, we have secured the services of a QC, along with other external investigatory support to upweight resource around our process. The ECB board has also reaffirmed its commitment to further additional resource, should the investigation require it.”ESPNcricinfo understands there is increasing concern within the ECB at Yorkshire being allowed to host or bid for international fixtures while issues around the subject remain unresolved. The club are currently scheduled to host a Test against New Zealand in 2022 and an Ashes Test in 2023. With political opinion building and the ECB anxious to show they are tough on the issue of racism, it is becoming ever more possible the club could be stripped of such games.

Big Bash drafts moved earlier in bid to secure best overseas players

The event will now take place in the middle of June, which is hoped will boost availability of big names for the BBL

Andrew McGlashan10-Apr-2025The BBL and WBBL drafts have been brought forward to mid-June in an attempt to ensure the men’s tournament has first pick at leading overseas players while providing more clarity for both competitions. The drafts have previously been held in late August or early September, but this year will take place on June 19 – which falls between the World Test Championship final and the start of the men’s tour of the West Indies.Brisbane Heat have secured pick one in the BBL draft, via a weighted lottery based on last season’s finishing positions, while Sydney Sixers have that advantage in the WBBL. BBL defending champions Hobart Hurricanes have pick five and WBBL holders Melbourne Renegades have pick seven. Draft picks can be traded. The challenge of securing leading overseas players and having them stay throughout the tournament is particularly acute for the BBL given the rival leagues which also take place during January, especially the SA20 and ILT20.

Big Bash draft order

BBL: 1 Brisbane Heat, 2 Adelaide Strikers, 3 Melbourne Renegades, 4 Perth Scorchers, 5 Hobart Hurricanes, 6 Sydney Sixers, 7 Melbourne Stars, 8 Sydney Thunder

WBBL: 1 Sydney Sixers, 2 Adelaide Strikers, 3 Melbourne Stars, 4 Perth Scorchers, 5 Hobart Hurricanes, 6 Sydney Thunder, 7 Melbourne Renegades, 8 Brisbane Heat

Last season, that was compounded by Australia Test players not being available for the finals due to a camp in Dubai ahead of the Sri Lanka series. There is hope that they may be able to feature until the end of next season’s competition, after the conclusion of the Ashes, although there could be a squeeze on those involved in the T20 World Cup with Australia expected to have a warm-up series ahead of that tournament, which is due to start in early February. While the WBBL has a more dedicated window in the calendar, it is not immune from player availability challenges although they stem largely from the increasing international schedule. In the 2025-26 season, the WBBL is also set to be pushed later due to the women’s ODI World Cup and the finals could overlap with international series involving India, Bangladesh, South Africa and Ireland.Clubs can secure up to four overseas players in the draft, which includes any pre-signed names. If a fourth player is signed, they become the club’s first replacement. Most clubs already have a pre-signed overseas player on their books from multi-year deals ahead of the 2024-25 season.Related

Bangladesh to play two T20Is against UAE in Sharjah before Pakistan tour

This will be Bangladesh’s second bilateral T20I series against UAE in the last three years

Aaron: Punjab Kings were in auto-destruct mode

After playing an important role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) comprehensive win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 1 in New Chandigarh, Suyash Sharma said it was the clarity of plans that helped him.Sent in, PBKS were 59 for 5 by the time Suyash came on to bowl, and his two wickets in his very first over ensured there was no revival. With his second ball, a googly, he bowled Shashank Singh, who tried to heave it on the leg side and missed. That forced PBKS to bring in Musheer Khan as Impact Player. But Musheer, making his IPL debut, lasted just three balls as Suyash trapped him lbw with another googly. In the spinner’s next over, Marcus Stoinis tried a slog sweep, only to be bowled. Once again, it was a googly. Suyash finished with 3 for 17 from three overs, his best IPL figures, as PBKS were all out for 101.Related

“The coaches have told me just one thing: I have to hit the stumps, it doesn’t matter whether I bowl a googly, legbreak, or flipper,” Suyash said after being named the Player of the Match. “So I try to finish as many balls as possible on the stumps.”There was some help from the pitch. I think that’s why my googly wasn’t easy to pick.”RCB captain Rajat Patidar, too, spoke on similar lines. “The way Suyash chipped in, the way he bowled his line and length, that was incredible. As a captain, I’m pretty much clear about his bowling. He has to be, most of the time, on the stumps. That’s his strength. And his wrong’un is very difficult to pick for batsmen.”So I always give him clear ideas. I don’t want to confuse him. And I’m okay if he gives some runs.”
