Newcastle fans discuss the prospect of signing Kenedy after Chelsea’s transfer ban

[ad_pod ]

Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the possibility of signing Kenedy on a permanent deal, after it was revealed that his parent club, Chelsea, will not be allowed to sign players for the next two transfer windows after FIFA imposed a ban.

Brazilian forward Kenedy is currently on a season-long loan with the Magpies, having spent the second half of last season on loan at St James’ Park as well, where he turned out to be a huge hit on Tyneside.

This season, however, the 23-year-old has scored just a single goal and recorded just one assist in 22 appearances in all competitions whilst disappointing massively – he also missed a last-minute penalty away to Cardiff which would’ve handed the Magpies all three points.

Boss Rafa Benitez was already quizzed back in December over whether he was thinking about terminating the loan, but the decision on Kenedy’s future might be out of his hands after the Blues’ transfer ban.

Let’s see what Newcastle fans on Twitter are saying about the Brazilian…

Watford fans applaud Doucoure’s performance

[ad_pod ]

Watford thumped Cardiff City by a 5-1 scoreline at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday. A hat-trick from Gerard Deulofeu and a brace for the Hornets’ talismanic No. 9 Troy Deeney sealed the points in emphatic fashion for Javi Gracia’s side.

Watford were by far the better side and deserved to win by such a healthy margin. Not only did the goalscorers impress but Abdoulaye Doucoure also had a fine game in the middle of the park. The 26-year-old was a powerful force in midfield, dictating the pace of the game, breaking up opposition attacks, and forging goalscoring opportunities for his teammates.

The Frenchman has been consistently impressive all season and may well be attracting attention from bigger sides after an absolute midfield master-class on Friday. The Mirror reported in January that Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester United have all scouted Doucoure in his time at Vicarage Road.

After his fine performance on Friday, plenty of Watford fans took to Twitter to applaud his contribution…

Southampton fans react to Danny Ings injury update

[ad_pod ]

Ralph Hasenhuttl was unable to bring hopeful Southampton fans much good news ahead of Saturday’s clash with Tottenham as he stated that Danny Ings remains ruled out through injury.

The 26-year-old has scored eight goals in 17 league appearances for the Saints but, as has been the case at multiple other points in his career, injury setbacks have prevented him from getting an extended run in the line-up.

Ings suffered a hamstring issue at the start of February in the clash with Burnley and was substituted before half-time, with Hasenhuttl later stating that the striker would require two to three weeks to get back to full fitness.

That time frame, though, has expired now and the Liverpool loanee has been absent for a month or more. The Saints have sorely missed his instinct in front of goal – Charlie Austin has struggled to find the net and has been more or less a passenger in the last few games.

Here’s how the St Mary’s Stadium faithful reacted to the update on Twitter…

Leeds fans react to Izzy Brown’s latest exploits

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United’s under-23s secured a 3-0 win over Watford’s under-23s at Vicarage Road on Monday.

The goals for the Whites came courtesy of Izzy Brown, Pascal Struijk and Kun Hihaylov. Ultimately, it was a comfortable win for the Yorkshire youth outfit that saw them take firm control of top spot in the Professional Development League northern division.

Brown produced another fine performance against the Hornets. The 22-year-old Chelsea loanee took his goal very well, continuing his prolific form for the Elland Road club’s under-23s side.

Brown has also been on the fringes of Marcelo Bielsa’s first team squad in recent weeks. The forward made his debut for the Whites’ senior side as a substitute in the recent defeat to QPR. Brown has struggled to make an impression in the first team this season but he’ll be hoping that his form for the under-23s pushes him further into Bielsa’s thoughts.

After the under-23s’ win, plenty of Leeds fans took to Twitter to praise Brown’s contribution…

West Brom fans slam Moore’s number two as Jones looks set to join Luton

[ad_pod ]

West Brom supporters were angry over the sacking of Darren Moore last weekend, but they seem to hold even more irritation about his number two, Graeme Jones.

This comes after news emerged of the latter supposedly having an agreement in place to join Luton this summer, according to the Express & Star.

Baggies fans are frustrated with the club’s situation at the moment and after Moore’s sacking are channelling their anger towards Jones, who was previously assistant manager of Belgium, claiming he had too much power and influence in the dressing room.

Despite Moore being the man in charge, some supporters believe that his 48-year-old former assistant should have taken the fall rather than their previously adored manager. Jones also fell out with the board in his time in the Midlands too.

Albion have been targeting instant promotion back to the Premier League but their chances of achieving an automatic route back into the top flight have taken a hit following three games without a win in the Championship.

They sit fourth in the league and still have a fantastic opportunity of going up through the play-offs. Luton, on the other hand, are top of League One but Baggies supporters have been warning fans of Jones’ potential new club that they may be better off without him.

Here’s the reaction from Twitter…

Sheffield Wednesday fans stunned by January arrival Iorfa

[ad_pod ]

The Steve Bruce revolution continued at Hillsborough on Saturday, and one January swoop in particular is looking like an absolute stroke of genius from the club.

The Owls have still not lost since Bruce arrived at the club, and Saturday’s win was one of the best performances yet.

While goals from Craig Conway and Elliott Bennett gave Blackburn a fighting chance, the hosts blew their guests 4-2, and January capture Dominic Iorfa was once again at the centre of everything good.

The 23 year-old, who signed for the club on deadline day on a permanent deal from Wolves, has now scored three times and found an assist for his new club, despite only featuring in seven games.

He has started at right-back in the last four games, in which the Owls have picked up eight points and kept two clean sheets.

He assisted Steven Fletcher’s early opener on Saturday before smashing in a goal of his own in the second half, and fans are now heaping praise on what they consider to be the best piece of transfer business the club has done in a long time.

Leeds United: The two things Marcelo Bielsa must demand from the club

The fight is well and truly on! Currently sitting third, Leeds’ fans are going to be chanting until the very end of the Sky Bet Championship season. As every fan reading this will know, the Whites literally never make things easy, but it’s hard to imagine they’ll fall away just because of the loss to Sheffield United. Indeed, Marcelo Bielsa will look to use every trick up his sleeve to get his side back to the promise land of English football.

One point off automatic promotion, five off top spot, Bielsa won’t be worried just yet and he will feel his side have plenty of time to climb back up to the summit of the Championship. In fact, while the title would be nice, automatic promotion is surely the only real aim and it’s a realistic one at that.

All being well, and should the 63-year-old manage to lift the club back into the Premier League, he will obviously have to look towards a few changes that need to be made in order to turn them into a solid Premier League side, like they were before.

Here are a couple of things Bielsa should ask for in order to keep the progress going:

Contract Extension

Only contracted until 2020, Bielsa will hope that achieving the dream of getting back into the Premier League will earn himself the right of a new extension. Fans too, with the enigmatic Argentine linked with a move to Everton by the Mirror already this season.

So, looking at the development of the team under the Argentine, it is hard to see why the board would say no, however, we have seen it on many occasion where a manager has done a phenomenal job and then faced the axe. The former Chile coach is certainly an enigma, so getting things locked in would be helpful.

Bring in a reliable goal scorer

Is Patrick Bamford really Premier League quality? Well, considering his previous form in the top tier, it doesn’ t look that way.

Many will say that Leeds’ front line has enough players already, however it can be argued that not all of them are up to the standard of Premier League striker. Week in, week out, we see strikers struggling to fit into the highest level of English football, and if Leeds are to find themselves at the pinnacle, Bielsa will be looking to the market to sign a proven Premier League goal scorer.

The Chalkboard: Jannik Vestergaard will be crucial to Southampton this weekend

[ad_pod ]

Southampton make the trip to Brighton, whose FA Cup semi-final bubble they will be hoping can be burst, this weekend in what promises to be a difficult game for both sides.

The return of Danny Ings is a big boost to the Saints attack and they will fancy themselves to cause the Seagulls’ defence problems, while Chris Hughton’s side will be hoping that Glenn Murray can put on another Premier League target man masterclass – the veteran striker and company will prove problematic, certainly.

On the chalkboard

Murray might be into his twilight years but he remains a huge threat in front of goal, as Crystal Palace found out earlier this month. The 6 foot hitman is excellent at using his physicality to work opportunities for himself and teammates and his heading ability will mean Brighton are a threat from set-pieces – and we haven’t even mentioned Shane Duffy or Lewis Dunk yet.

The gigantic centre-back pairing are as good in the opposition box as they are on their own, Duffy in particular – the Irishman has netted five league goals this campaign from the heart of defence. At a combined height of 12 ft 8, the duo will cause havoc in the Southampton box if Brighton can deliver from dead-ball situations.

Vester-guard

Fortunately for the Saints, they have their own behemoth at the back in Jannik Vestergaard – the Dane stands at 6 ft 6 and will be essential if the visitors are to negate the Seagulls’ imposing trio.

Be sure to check out the incredible story of the man who rose from a Tanzanian refugee camp to become one of Australia’s biggest football stars in the video below…

The former Monchengladbach man might look awkward and off-balanced every time the ball comes near him on the ground but he is a force to be reckoned with in the air.

The 26-year-old summer arrival has yet to net for Southampton but, if he can cancel out Brighton’s main threat, then his contributions on Saturday will be just as crucial as a goal. He quite literally has a huge role to play in the game.

Why aren’t we doing that?! Manchester United fans envious of Europe’s top clubs

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United fans on Twitter have been complaining about a lack of organisation around the club, following a tweet highlighting the fact that some of Europe’s top clubs have already secured significant signings ahead of the summer window.

The 20-time Premier League champions still do not have a Director of Football, a position of growing importance in the modern game, and only announced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager yesterday afternoon.

Which “global superstar” has just been named Man Utd’s worst ever January signing? Find out in the video above…

As seen in the above tweet, Barcelona, United’s Champions League quarter-final opponents, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have all confirmed huge arrivals, something that seems to have sparked jealously from a number of the club’s supporters.

Fans of the Red Devils have been bemoaning the club’s lack of pro activeness in the market, whilst also being critical of United’s apparent prioritisation of commercial matters over the footballing side of things.

Let’s see what the frustrated United supporters have been saying on Twitter…

World class: Tottenham fans lavish praise on Christian Eriksen

[ad_pod ]

It would be fair to say that Christian Eriksen has not had the best of relationships with the Tottenham Hotspur fans in recent weeks.

Indeed, amid suggestions that the Dane could leave Spurs this summer, the 6 ft ace has faced criticism.

The 27-year-old came to the forefront on Wednesday night, though, as Tottenham started life in their new stadium with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

It was Eriksen’s assist that saw Son Heung-min make the breakthrough in the 55th minute, before the Dane made it 2-0 with a goal of his own 10 minutes from time.

Regardless of the fact that it came in their new home, the result was huge for the north London outfit as they returned to third position in the Premier League table at a vital stage of the season.

Which team is the dominant force in London right now? Playmaker FC’s Tom Skinner has a very unpopular opinion on the matter. Check it out in the video below…

After the match in London, a host of Spurs fans took to social media to lavish praise on Eriksen for his impressive performance against the Eagles.
