Western Australia have left room in their state squad for the reliable seam bowler Michael Hogan as he ponders whether or not to return for another Sheffield Shield summer in between his commitments for Glamorgan in the English County Championship.Hogan had been thought lost to the Warriors in 2013 when he chose to use an England passport to play for Glamorgan as a local player, however a tweak of eligibility rules by Cricket Australia – designed principally in a failed attempt to lure Middlesex’s Sam Robson to contend for a berth as an Australia opening batsman – allowed him to play in 2013-14.He proceeded to pluck 36 wickets at 25.80 for WA, helping their thrust towards the Shield final, but is yet to decide on coming back for another season. Hogan is understandably rated highly by Glamorgan having harvested 67 wickets at 20.53 in the northern summer of 2013.WA’s coach Justin Langer is hopeful of retaining Hogan. “We would love to have him back next year, but we need to work closely with Glamorgan, his manager and Michael,” he said when announcing WA’s state squad for next summer. “If we can get him back it’d be a great bonus for everyone.”The recruitment of Michael Klinger from South Australia to cover for the retirement of Marcus North is the only major change to the WA line-up for next season, following a successful 12 months of regeneration and development in the previously moribund west.The talented young batsman Tom Beaton has returned to the contract list after making his debut during Mickey Arthur’s tenure as state coach, while the seam and swing bowler Andrew Tye has been rewarded for strong club form with his first state deal.Burt Cockley, Luke Towers and Liam Davis have all lost their state contracts, the latter humbugged by a serious finger injury that precluded him from playing any Shield matches last summer.”The only reason Liam’s not in there is because he’s had a career-threatening finger injury, because of that we weren’t able to offer him a contract this year,” Langer said. “He’ll need to work out if his finger allows him to play cricket again. Naquela noite fria de 1999, o time paranaense recebia o Cerro Porteño, do Paraguai, em amistoso inaugural. Como não poderia ser diferente, a sua torcida marcou presença e empurrou o Furacão, que venceu por 2 a 1, com gols de Lucas e Vanin, um golaço de fora da área.

Desde então, o time paranaense, que pouco figurava os primeiros lugares do futebol nacional, mudou totalmente a sua história. Dois anos depois, a equipe comandada por Alex Mineiro e Kléber Pereira no ataque, faturava o inédito Campeonato Brasileiro.

O ponto alto veio em 2005. Na ocasião, o time que havia ficado com o vice-campeonato nacional no ano anterior, chegou à final da Libertadores da América, mas não pôde atuar em casa contra o São Paulo, motivo de ira da torcida até os dias de hoje.

Foi dentro da Arena da Baixada, que o Furacão conquistou a sua maior glória. No dia 12 de dezembro de 2018, diante do Junior Barranquilla, o Athletico levou o título da Copa Sul-Americana na decisão de pênaltis. Após empatar no tempo normal por 1 a 1, o time brasileiro venceu por 4 a 3 na marca da cal.

Andrew Flintoff’s plans for a remarkable comeback nearly five years after his career seemed over because of injury are moving closer with his secret talks with Lancashire now reported by insiders at the county to be at an “advanced stage”.Flintoff’s attempted return would give England’s relaunched NatWest Blast tournament a dash of celebrity but both Lancashire and the player himself are determined he will only return if they both feel he can meet cricketing demands.Flintoff is not only contemplating returning on the field for Lancashire, he has also been offered the opportunity to take on an as yet undefined coaching role during the tournament.Prospects of him playing in the opening game against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge on Friday night or for Lancashire’s first home game against Worcestershire Rapids at Old Trafford 24 hours later seem to have been scuppered by an ankle injury picked up in fielding practice.Flintoff responded tartly on Twitter earlier this week to Notts’ suggestions that he might play at Trent Bridge and suggested they should use the quality of their own players to sell tickets.The injury has also so far prevented him turning out in one of several Lancashire’s 2nd XI T20 fixtures this week – the latest of which is scheduled for Ormskirk today – and he will have to play in at least one such game to confirm that his fitness is robust enough for 1st team cricket.Flintoff’s big-hitting capability is ideally designed for T20 cricket and his enthusiasm for one last heave has been apparent in net sessions. If he does take the field, it would be a huge surprise if he also had a stint with the ball.But both Lancashire and the player are keenly aware of the risks he would take with such a comeback and are determined that it will not be regarded as a charade.

Pakistan’s hopes of reviving international cricket at home were dealt a big blow after Ireland decided to hold back on its ongoing discussion with the PCB regarding a proposed tour to Pakistan later this year, following the terrorist attacks on Karachi airport this week.Ireland had been willing to tour Pakistan as early as September on the condition of security assurances, but the terrorist attacks in and around Karachi airport which has killed more than 30 people, have now ruled out the proposition. “Cricket Ireland and the PCB were in advanced discussions to play three ODIs in Pakistan in September,” Barry Chambers, Cricket Ireland’s spokesperson told ESPNcricinfo.”These discussions had taken place between the respective chairmen and CEOs over the past three weeks, and had involved contact with ICC, governments, and security advisors. There had been a preliminary agreement to play three games subject to a security review by credible experts, and agreement from the players and staff, which would have been the next stage of the process. With the recent tragic events at Karachi Airport, the series will now be deferred to a later date.”Pakistan has not hosted an international match since the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in March 2009. However, ESPNcricinfo understands that upon the persuasion of ECB chairman Giles Clarke, Ireland became the first major cricket-playing nation to show their support to Pakistan, and were even willing to play in the country.”Cricket Ireland is obviously very keen to secure as many fixtures as possible against Full Members, and these proposed games would have been very beneficial ahead of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup,” Chambers said.Ireland had initially been invited to tour Pakistan early last year following Bangladesh’s withdrawal from a scheduled series in January. The PCB tried hard to negotiate a home series with the BCB, but Bangladesh withdrew twice after seemingly having committed to the tour.For the last three months, the PCB has been using diplomatic channels in a bid to win back lost confidence. There had been frequent visits by the European Union delegation at the PCB headquarters. Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, the head of the European Union delegation to Pakistan, had called on the PCB Chairman Najam Sethi in March, and this was followed by another delegation visit last month.”The PCB is trying to bring back international cricket to Pakistan,” Sethi had said. “Every diplomatic effort is being made for the revival of bilateral and other international cricket in this country.”

فابريزيو رومانو، الصحفي الإيطالي بشبكة “سكاي” الإيطالية، أكد بأن بونوتشي سيبدأ اتخاذ الإجراءات القانونية ضد يوفنتوس، لعدم توفر الظروف التدريبية المناسبة له.

وأشار بونوتشي إلى أن يوفنتوس أضر بصورته وطبيعته المهنية، وتسبب في أن مسيرة اللاعب تدهورت خلال السنوات الأخيرة.

وكشف رومانو، أن بونوتشي ينوي التبرع بأي مكاسب من التعويض الذي يريد أن يحصل عليه، إلى جمعية خيرية تدعم مستشفيات الأطفال في تورينو.

If you thought the most wondrous catch in the NatWest Blast this season was too good to be repeated, think again. The double act produced by Adam Lyth and Aaron Finch in the Roses match at Old Trafford was re-enacted for local consumption at Headingley as Yorkshire kept their quarter-final fires burning with a 14-run win against Leicestershire.To watch such a slick combination once was a privilege. To see it twice in a matter of weeks defied belief. It had become an everyday miracle like birdsong or Black Sheep bitter. Twice, Lyth and Finch have achieved standards that if produced in IPL would be talked about for years.Nothing could be a better advertisement for the NatWest Blast as it battles to gain a place in public affections. There might even be a grudging nod of approval when no one is looking from those Yorkshire members who stoutly refuse to give house room to anything other than Championship cricket.At Old Trafford, it was Tom Smith who perished as Yorkshire clung on for a narrow victory. This time Josh Cobb was silenced just as a domineering stand between Cobb and Greg Smith suggested that Leicestershire could successfully pursue the 169 needed for victory. On both occasions, the Blast achieved standards that would delight any T20 league in the world.The routine is so slick it is tempting to assume it has been practiced more than it has. On both occasions, Lyth acrobatically knocked back the ball in mid-air from over the long-on boundary for Finch to complete the catch inside the boundary rope. Only this time the marks for artistic impression were higher: there was more of a twist in Lyth’s leap and Finch, instead of just accepting a perfect hand-off, had to plunge forward to hold a low, right-handed catch. “That was ordinary – we’ll have to work on that in the morning,” Finch joked.”I don’t know what to say to be honest,” Lyth said. “I needed a bit of luck. I had to run a little bit further for this one. And it’s Finchy who gets the catch.” They were quite rightly judged by Sky TV as joint winners of the Man of the Match award.”It changed the game,” Andrew Gale, Yorkshire’s captain, said. “Leicestershire have a lot of power up top. We practise a lot of our fielding but I’m not sure how much we practise that. It just shows the power and athleticism of the boys.”Fielding settled this match – one that Yorkshire were desperate to win to make the most of two home matches in successive days. Matt Boyce and Ben Raine were both run out, the latter via a direct hit from Azeem Rafiq. For Raine, who had bowled Finch on his way to 3 for 25, a first-ball dismissal killed his thoughts of a match-winning turn. It was all far removed from Leicestershire’s shoddy fielding display.There was a stumping, too, from Jonny Bairstow to rid Yorkshire of Ned Eckersley as the spinners, Adil Rashid and Rafiq, strangled Leicestershire in mid-innings on a gripping pitch. But as Bairstow seeks to rebuild his reputation he should reflect, too, on a careless missed run-out of Eckersley when he took the throw one handed and broke the stumps after the ball had slipped from his grasp.Yorkshire struck 33 from the last two overs of their innings – Tim Bresnan and Richard Pyrah rescuing an innings which had never caught fire. Greg Smith, out four overs from the end after making 56 from 49 balls, ensured Leicestershire needed only 27, but from the first ball Tom Wells struck Ryan Sidebottom flat to long-off where Finch this time took the catch without the need for a combo. At eight wickets down, Leicestershire never threatened again.Gale had provided the half-century that gave Yorkshire early ballast. “They gave me a few lives, but you need a bit of luck in T20,” he said. “I’ve had a stinker in the first five games so I’ve gone back to being an orthodox slogger, if you like.”The captain could be satisfied with his change of fortune but, as they returned to the top four, of far more importance was an essential victory less than 24 hours before Durham arrive at Headingley. Who knows, those Championship-only members might even turn out to cheer them on.
