O Remo conquistou o título do Campeonato Paranaense, no último domingo, após dois anos de espera.Foram dois jogos eletrizantes contra o maior rival, o Paysandu. O meiaLeandro Brasília fez parte da campanha do Leão Azulno Estadual e ergueu o seu primeiro troféu no clube.

Brett Lee, Shaun Tait and David Hussey have all been given the chance to press for World Cup selection after being named in Australia’s squad for the first ODI against England. The match in Melbourne on Sunday will be the only one-day game Australia will play before their 15-man World Cup group needs to be finalised, so there is plenty at stake for several fringe men.Nathan Hauritz was also chosen, having not been part of Australia’s team in any format since he was axed before the first Ashes Test. Hauritz, Xavier Doherty and Steven Smith are all in the 14-man squad, and with the World Cup to be played on spin-friendly subcontinental surfaces, they will all be keen to impress in the 50-over format.Michael Clarke, who last week announced his retirement from Twenty20s, will captain the side with Ricky Ponting still sidelined by his finger injury. Brad Haddin was picked and will be Australia’s first-choice gloveman at the World Cup, despite the selectors giving Tim Paine the vice-captaincy for the two Twenty20s against England this week.Lee will be aiming to play his first ODI since October 2009, after a severely injury-disrupted 2010, and he has already made clear his ambition to be part of Australia’s World Cup defence. A descrição pode ser da Arena Corinthians, mas também é do Estádio Libertadores de América, casa do Independiente (ARG), rival do Timão nesta quarta-feira.

Inaugurado em 1928, o estádio do Independiente completou 90 anos em março, mas passou por diversas reformas. Ele chegou a ser demolido em 2007 e foi reinaugurado cerca de dois anos depois. A última reforma terminou apenas em 2016, com a conclusão de uma tribuna. O estádio foi batizado de Libertadores de América em referência às conquistas do Independiente, maior campeão do principal torneio sul-americano, com sete títulos.

Atualmente, o estádio localizado em Avellaneda (cidade na província de Buenos Aires) tem capacidade para quase 50 mil pessoas. A expectativa para o duelo entre Independiente e Corinthians é de cerca de 40 mil presentes, 80% da capacidade.

Embora esteja empolgada com o time, que disputa a Libertadores e está entre os primeiros colocados no campeonato nacional, a torcida do Independiente esbarra no preço dos ingressos. Para o jogo contra o Corinthians, as entradas chegam a até 1.300 pesos argentinos (cerca de R$ 210). O LANCE! visitou a sede do clube, onde há a comercialização dos ingressos, e ouviu relatos de torcedores reclamando dos valores (veja abaixo). Algo parecido com o que acontece nos jogos do Timão em Itaquera…

No único jogo em casa do Corinthians até agora na Libertadores, o ingresso mais caro foi vendido a R$ 228. Os dois clubes, porém, fazem pacotes para sócios-tocedores pagarem mais barato.

Os torcedores do Corinthians que comparecerão ao duelo terão de desembolsar 1.000 pesos (cerca de R$ 160). As vendas acontecerão apenas no dia da partida, a partir das 18h, na bilheteria do estádio do Independiente.

Em campo, os jogadores corintianos devem encarar um clima de pressão dos torcedores argentinos, já que as arquibancadas são bem próximas ao gramado. O LANCE! visitou o estádio na tarde de segunda-feira, quando funcionários faziam ajustes já de olho na partida contra o Corinthians. O Independiente atuou em sua casa no domingo, na vitória sobre o Boca Juniors, mas o gramado está em ótimo estado.

É com esse cenário que o Corinthians disputará seu terceiro jogo nesta Libertadores. O Timão é o líder do Grupo 7, com quatro pontos, um a mais que o vice-líder Independiente.

Michael Hussey has said that his fortuitous call-up to the World Cup squad was a “dream come true” and is confident that his hamstring will withstand the rigours of one-day cricket as Australia pursue their fourth consecutive title. Dirk Nannes, on the other hand, who is travelling to the subcontinent as a standby player, is unsure of his role but wants to make the most of his opportunity.”Just going is a bit of a dream come true, but to actually be there as part of a winning Australian team would be out of this world, so let’s hope,” Hussey told reporters in Perth. “I’ve had lots of messages from the boys already so I’m just excited to get over there really.”Hussey was informed of his selection during the tea break of the Sheffield Shield match between Western Australia and Queensland at the WACA on Sunday. He had been part of the initial World Cup squad, but was replaced by Callum Ferguson before the tournament began after sustaining a hamstring injury that needed surgery. Hussey’s opportunity arose when Doug Bollinger was injured in India.Hussey scored only 19 and 11 against Queensland but he said the time spent on the field had given him confidence. “The first innings I fielded in the slips for the whole innings so I didn’t really have to test it [hamstring] too much but in the second innings the selectors actually did want me to have a bit of a run around in the field,” Hussey said. “So I spoke to Northy [Marcus North] and said ‘do you mind if I have a run in the outfield? And the more I was out and on it the better it felt and the more confidence I got with it.”It would have been nice to score more runs, but just to be out there playing the game you love again is what it’s all about. Just knowing I can get through the game and know I can go full of confidence with the leg, that gives me a lot of confidence as well.”Australia have made a strong start to the World Cup, winning their first two matches before their game against Sri Lanka was washed out in Colombo. “We’ve got to be a great chance,” Hussey said. “A confident Australian team is always very hard to beat so hopefully we can keep building that confidence and be right there at the business end of the tournament.”While Hussey is likely to slot in the middle order straightaway, Nannes will not be available for selection unless another player in Australia’s squad gets injured. Nannes said he was surprised to get the call from the selectors. “It’s certainly unexpected, I was just having fun on the farm on the weekend and got the phone call,” Nannes said in Melbourne. “I’m rapt to be going over, I’m not really sure what sort of role I’m going to play.”Relying on any injuries is not the best situation to be in, I guess, but at least I’ve been given some sort of opportunity. I’m excited about what may be, I will prepare myself to carry bags well and make good drinks, that’s about all I can do.”I was a bit miffed earlier in the year when I wasn’t in the Twenty20 squad and I was a bit miffed, I guess, not being in the original [World Cup] 30,” he said. “I guess that’s the lot of a cricketer, you have selection problems and then the highs that come with it, that’s just part of being a sportsman. I’ve never been part of the one-day setup and the way that operates, I’ve never been under Ricky Ponting, so it will be massively beneficial to my cricket.”

Though Sri Lanka and Pakistan could argue over which nation enjoyed the most gilted path to the World Cup semi-finals, their wide margins of victory have not dissuaded Australia captain Ricky Ponting from regarding India as the tournament’s most likely winner.Arriving home from the least successful Cup campaign of his long career – having either won the tournament or made the final on every other occasion – Ponting reckoned MS Dhoni’s team had the batting power to surmount all remaining opposition. An obstinate Ponting summoned all his reserves of concentration to fashion a century in his side’s quarter-final against India in Motera, only to see a fair total reeled in without undue difficulty by the cultured blade of Yuvraj Singh.”India are going to be hard to beat,” he told reporters in Sydney. “They are a very powerful team, there’s no doubt about that, their bowling probably hasn’t quite hit its straps as much as they would like yet, but their batting is very good.”No surprise Sri Lanka today, everyone probably picked that, although the margin is quite surprising and I think they are going to be right in it now. I think Sri Lanka will beat New Zealand and I think India will beat Pakistan and if it ends up being an India Sri Lanka final it will be a great game of cricket.”Australia’s return home from the subcontinent called for plenty of difficult questions about the composition of the Cup squad and the conduct of the campaign, but Ponting mounted a staunch defence on both counts. Of the squad, he argued injuries had pushed the national selectors into a pace-oriented corner, something that had worked on simililary slow pitches in the Caribbean four years ago.”As we know before we left with Nathan Hauritz going down and Xavier Doherty going down as well we didn’t have any other spinning options we could take away with us,” Ponting said. “Shaun Tait was one of our trump cards in the last World Cup in fairly similar conditions to what we faced in this World Cup and Brett [Lee] was the pick of our bowlers through the [limited overs portion of] summer.”Mitch [Johnson] has that real x-factor about him that you need in tournaments as such as a World Cup. We had who we had in terms of who we could pick. If you look at the other teams that are left in the tournament now they are probably doing it a slightly different way to what we did. A lot of them are only playing their two quicks and having more spinning options but unfortunately for us we never had that luxury when we left.”As for his run-ins with a Motera television set and young allrounder Steve Smith in Bangalore, Ponting was equal parts bemused and indignant. “One happened inside the supposed sanctity of the change rooms which was a totally accidental thing that happened in there,” he said.”As I said I regretted the damage that was caused at the time but absolutely didn’t mean it whatsoever.”I think the second one is something that has been blown completely out of all proportion: me having an on-field spat with one of my team mates couldn’t be any further from the truth. I mean I didn’t even look in his direction, so I am not sure where that actually came from or how big a deal it actually turned into back here in Australia, but it just seemed every day I had to wake up and answer different questions about being frustrated about being over there and about what the team was doing or what I was doing but it certainly wasn’t that.”I was over there enjoying the World Cup for what it was and trying to get the best performances out of the team every day.”
