Leeds United fans on Twitter were momentarily worried after Phil Hay posted a misleading tweet about Kalvin Phillips.

A fan asked whether or not the midfielder would be travelling to Australia for the club’s pre-season tour to which the journalist simply replied: “Phillips is due to go.”

Without context, it looked as if Hay was confirming the midfielder was on his way out of Elland Road as fans have been worried about his potential departure for weeks.

On Friday, Tottenham were linked with a move for the Leeds man.

The youngster has been the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs during this transfer window as Aston Villa, Wolves and Norwich have all shown an interest in him.

The former Yorkshire Evening Post writer’s tweet was in fact a positive update on Phillips, but that didn’t stop some fans worrying.

وأشارت إلى أن صلاح تفوق في ذلك على ستيفين جيرارد ومايكل أوين (7 أهداف)، وروبي فاولر وساديو ماني وفرناندو توريس (5 أهداف).

ووفقًا لشبكة “سكواكا” العالمية، فإن صلاح لم يسجل أهدافًا أمام أي فريق آخر في الدوري أكثر مما فعل ضد وست هام.

In what has been a topsy-turvy couple of months in the world of Paul Pogba and Manchester United, it appears we may have a fresh twist on the cards.

Reports in recent weeks had suggested the France World Cup winner was on his way out of Old Trafford this summer, and comments from his agent Mino Raiola echoed those sentiments.

However, in an update from The Guardian, Pogba’s hopes of leaving United are becoming increasingly “remote” as the club have yet to receive a bid from any interested parties.

The report adds that with the transfer window closing in less than a month, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side do not want to lose yet another midfielder this summer and that Madrid’s valuation of Pogba is “markedly lower” than United’s.

After hearing the news Pogba could now be staying in Manchester for the foreseeable future, United fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter.

Many were seemingly relieved that the Frenchman was being kept at the club and praised the side for holding out for Pogba’s true valuation rather than just letting him go on the cheap.

Indeed, many suggested that the 26-year-old still remained one of their best midfielders and even claimed that losing the former Juventus midfielder would see them end up in a “relegation dogfight”.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has been left in a very awkward situation following a reported bust-up with striker Charlie Austin.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the Austrian has made no secret of the fact that he would be happy to sell the centre-forward if the price was right, even saying it both during the January transfer window and then again later on during the 2018/19 season.

It appeared as though the 30-year-old could be edging closer to a St Mary’s exit after he was omitted from the 26-man squad that travelled to Austria for a pre-season trip last week, but The Sunday Mirror, via HITC, say he turned down a move to West Bromwich Albion.

A further report from The Sun now says the former Queens Park Rangers man called Hasenhuttl “disrespectful” for leaving him behind in England, and that he wants to stay and fight for his spot in the team with just a year remaining on his contract.

Austin was signed for what was a bargain £4m fee in January 2016, but he has scored just 20 goals in 81 appearances in all competitions since then, including two in 25 Premier League outings last term.

Awkward situation

It has left the former RB Leipzig boss with a bit of a problem.

He clearly wants Austin to go – not only for the fact that he appears to be sixth-choice striker right now with Danny Ings, Che Adams, Shane Long, Michael Obafemi and Dan N’Lundulu all going to Austria ahead of him, but probably also to remove his wages – but the striker isn’t keen as he knows he will be entitled to a potentially lucrative signing-on fee next summer, according to The Sunday Mirror, via Tribal Football.

The Daily Echo reports that both he and Mario Lemina are training separately from the rest of the squad at Staplewood, with Saints preferring a permanent exit for Austin if he is to go.

With just over three weeks until the transfer window slams shut this is a real sticking point, and it has left Hasenhuttl in an unneeded awkward position ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

Southampton may be better off simply paying up his contract should an exit fail to materialise, in order to get a player that could prove to be a distraction off of the books for good.

According to two reports from Football Insider, West Brom are fielding interest for Matt Phillips from Aston Villa, as well as Sheffield United and Brighton.

What’s the word?

West Brom have already lost two major players in the summer transfer window as they waved farewell to Craig Dawson and Jay Rodriguez.

They’ve also been subjected to seeing academy prospects Louie Barry and Morgan Rogers walk through the exit door too.

However, after bringing in five new bodies, outgoings at Albion had seemed to have quietened down.

But with the new season now fast approaching, Phillips has also been linked with a move away.

Football Insider suggests that Aston Villa are interested in the winger whilst the same publication states there is a further attraction from Brighton and Sheffield United.

Baggies must avoid past mistakes

Phillips is now heading into the final year of his deal at West Brom and if he’s unwilling to agree to new terms then Albion must cash in.

The 28-year-old was one of their star players in 2018/19, particularly in the first half of the season before picking up an injury that wreaked havoc with his playing time.

He netted five times whilst also laying on seven assists but the fact of the matter is, the Baggies must learn from past mistakes.

Over the last few years they’ve had to see some of their best players leave for cut-price deals after previously rejecting hefty bids.

In 2017, they fended off a colossal £25m bid for Jonny Evans from Leicester before selling him for £3.5m to the same team just a year later.

Meanwhile, last summer they were looking at receiving over £20m for both Dawson and Rodriguez. They rejected a combined £25m offer from Burnley before selling the pair for £5.5m and £10m respectively this year.

Therefore, Albion must take whatever funds they can get from Phillips before they risk losing him for free next summer and regretting yet another blunder.

West Brom have been naive in the transfer market before but on this occasion, there would be far worse decisions than biting the bullet on their 6 foot 1 midfielder. Though, if he does sign a new contract, it could be a very different story.

Simon Mignolet has now officially completed a permanent transfer to Club Brugge after a six-year spell with Liverpool.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper has had a great run with the Reds, totalling 204 games for the team and getting that Champions League winner’s medal at the very end.

Now, he will return to his homeland in Belgium where he will continue his career.

But he did not leave without saying goodbye.

Shortly after the transfer was confirmed by the Reds, Mignolet took to social media and

Mignolet arrived at Anfield back in the summer of 2013 from Sunderland and had immediately enjoyed an impressive maiden season between the sticks under the watchful eye of Brendan Rodgers, who was in charge at that time.

The Champions League trophy in 2019, however, ended up being his first and last title with Liverpool as the Reds narrowly missed out on the Community Shield crown in the match against Manchester City

Mignolet spent that game on the bench throughout the whole 90 minutes and the penalty shootout afterwards.
