According to Goal, Liverpool are willing to enter negotiations over Xherdan Shaqiri if a good offer arrives for the attacking midfielder this summer.

What’s the word, then?

Well, according to the report, it is believed that the Swiss international is ‘out of step’ with what Jurgen Klopp wants from a tactical viewpoint, and a ‘good offer’ would convince Liverpool to do business.

Shaqiri endured a torrid second half of the season on Merseyside, playing just 431 minutes in total after the turn of the year; the reasons for his severe lack of involvement remain a mystery.

His exclusion was a strange one given how effective the former Bayern Munich man was in the first half of the campaign, with the 3-1 win over Manchester United at Anfield being the best example of how much of a game-changer he can be.

Liverpool are wrong to listen to offers

His expertly delivered free-kick away to Newcastle led to Divock Origi heading in a late winner, which kept the Reds’ title hopes alive; whilst they ultimately finished second, that moment took things to the final day and gave Liverpool hope.

Another moment of true quality that Shaqiri delivered, and one that may yet land Liverpool some silverware, was his involvement in the historic Champions League semi-final comeback against Barcelona.

It was Shaqiri’s pinpoint delivery on to the head of Gini Wijnaldum that saw Klopp’s men even the tie up at 3-3, before they went on to win it thank to Origi and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s quick thinking.

Yes, the 27-year-old may not be a Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah, and he may drift in and out of games.

However, he has the quality to come off the bench and make an impact, something that very few in the Liverpool squad can currently do; it would be unfair to bin him after just one season.

وبالدقيقة 12، سدد الدولي البرتغالي، دييجو جوتا، تسديدة قوية على مرمى الثعالب، ولكن شمايكل واصل تألقه وتصدى للكرة بطريقة رائعة.

وفي الدقيقة 20، جاء الهدف الأول في المباراة لـ ليفربول، عبر النيران الصديقة، الهدف جاء بعد ركنية نفذها جوتا، في إتجاه ساديو ماني، ولكن جوني إيفانز مدافع ليستر سيتي سجل الكرة بالرأس في الخطأ في مرماه.

ومع بداية الشوط الثاني، واصل ليفربول الضغط على الضيوف، ومنع شمايكل من جديد ليفربول من الهدف الثالث، وحرم ساديو ماني من فرصة إحراز هدف بالدقيقة 53.

ونجح البرازيلي، فيرمينو من إحراز الهدف الثالث أخيرًا لـ ليفربول في الدقيقة 86، بعد ركلة ركنية من الجهة اليسرى، لداخل منطقة الجزاء، ارتقى لها فيرمينو سددها بالرأس سكنت شباك الحارس الدنماركي كاسبر شمايكل.

According to The Sun, Crystal Palace are keeping tabs on Liverpool’s Harry Wilson this summer, with the 22-year-old having impressed on loan at Derby in 2018/19, although they may have to fend off Brighton, Bournemouth and Wolves for the talented winger’s signature.

The Welshman has chalked up 18 goals, some of which have been absolute scorchers, and six assists for the Rams across all competitions and is capable of playing on either wing or as an attacking midfielder – this versatility could be crucial to Palace next season, particularly during the disarray that would follow the potential exit of Wilfried Zaha.

The Sun understands that the Reds are willing to let 5 ft 8 Wilson go out on loan again in 2019/20 but, should any of the aforementioned clubs be willing to sign him permanently, they will demand at least £25m, despite the player having featured just once for the Anfield outfit.

Bringing in someone with next-to-zero top flight experience is always a bit of a risk but Wilson’s tallies are impressive and Palace will need every little bit of help they can get if Zaha heads out the door this summer.

I just doubt that Liverpool would be stupid enough to sell the wide man to a fellow top-flight outfit – no matter how much of Zaha’s transfer fee Crystal Palace threw at them.”

It’s no real secret that Roy Hodgson loves some flair from his wingers, allowing them attacking freedom in bursting by defenders to counter-attack at a searing pace.

Indeed, the English gaffer’s system has played a big part in elevating both Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend towards being considered among the Premier League’s best outside the top six and a major part of the reason the Eagles remain in the top flight of English football.

Now, he doesn’t want this magic to go As Zaha’s future remains in doubt, Hodgson’s seemingly planning on keeping the future bright. According to reports from French outlet Nice-Matin, the Eagles are interested in acquiring the excellent Allan Saint-Maximin.

The 22-year-old’s been an absolute marvel in France, bamboozling defences with his exquisite ability. Saint-Maximin craves for the ball at his feet, taking every opportunity to dance past his opposition, produce some sensational trickery in order to get fans on their feet. While he might’ve only scored 6 goals last season, he is a hugely talented winger ready to explode on the top level.

Frankly, Saint-Maximin’s the complete package in the final third, having the ability to operate from either wing or even down the centre if needed. However, he’s most effective down the right where he loves scurrying past defenders or cutting inside the box. The 22-year-old’s averaged 2.2 shots, 1.7 key passes and 4.2 dribbles per game (stats via WhoScored), proving just how exciting his talent really is.

Selhurst certainly needs a lift after a fairly miserable home campaign and a move for the £22.5m-rated (per Transfermarkt) rising star would be a way to get fans onside.

The youngster is the latest gem unearthed from Ligue 1 and can really light up Selhurst Park with his impeccable work with the ball. Mixed with some help from Townsend (hopefully Zaha too) and co, Saint-Maximin could be the irresistible wing-wizard required to glow up Palace’s future.

According to The Scottish Sun, West Brom are interested in Barnsley defender Liam Lindsay.

What’s the word?

Lindsay has been a rock at the back for the Tykes since arriving in English football from Partick Thistle in 2017.

He was named in the SPL Team of the Year before his move and then went onto win Barnsley’s Players’ Player of the Year in 2017/18.

The Reds were relegated from the Championship that term but have bounced back after achieving promotion from League One.

At the heart of that was Lindsay who may now be about to switch clubs.

The Scottish Sun claim that West Brom, Derby, Stoke and Brentford are all interested. However, they will also face competition from Serie A side Brescia who have made a bid of £1m, per the report.

Dawson replacement on the cards?

Last month Craig Dawson was the subject of interest from Burnley after The Sun suggested they could make a £15m move for the player.

With Dawson’s future in doubt, Lindsay would represent the ideal replacement.

In the Championship last term, the Albion defender won the most aerial duels of any man in the team. On average he won 4.3 per game but comparing that to Lindsay’s first season in the Championship, the Scot won 4.5.

Standing at 6 ft 3, Lindsay is colossal in the air and therefore he’d have no trouble to fitting into a Baggies defence that already rely on their strong centre-halves to head the ball away.

At just 23 years of age, the Barnsley man is an ideal signing for West Brom as they get set to rebuild their squad. Signing players with room to develop is exactly the policy they should be looking to put in operation and Lindsay fits that idea perfectly.

The centre-back appears to be improving all the time and under boss Daniel Stendel, he had a flawless manager to help him progress.

If the Baggies can bring Lindsay to the Hawthorns and find the right coach to develop him, they can strike gold.

Providing Dawson does leave the club, Lindsay is a stellar replacement. They must do all they can to beat Brescia to his services.

According to a report from Deporte Valenciano, Unai Emery’s Arsenal are “best placed” to sign Valencia goalkeeper Neto Murara this summer transfer window.

What’s the word, then?

Unexpectedly, the article claims that Neto has been told he can leave the club during the window and the Gunners are leading the race for his signature as the shot-stopper could well end up in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old arrived at Valencia from Juventus in the summer of 2017, and has established himself as the clear number one.

Before that, the ‘keeper had plied his trade in his homeland prior to his big move to Europe with Fiorentina. At 6 ft 3, Neto is an absolute giant between the sticks, capped by both the Brazilian national team and Olympic side.

He has just under two years left on his current contract with Valencia.

Transfer would be a crazy move

As good as Neto is and as exciting as it would be to see him showcase his talents in the Premier League and at the Emirates Stadium, a transfer here would be a crazy move and one the Gunners must steer clear of.

It has been reported that the north Londoners will only have £40m to spend in the summer, so why on earth would they waste it on a goalkeeper with the options they currently have?

Yes, the Gunners have lost Petr Cech to retirement, but if you look at their squad there really isn’t the need to sign a replacement. Instead, just promote one of the current players to second choice.

Not counting David Ospina, who will be returning to the club from his season-long loan at Napoli in the coming weeks, Emery is in possession of no fewer than four ‘keepers in their present ranks.

Number one Bernd Leno, Emiliano Martinez, Matt Macey, the list goes on and they’re all over the age of 24. The Gunners would be much better off spending their timid transfer kitty on strengthening other areas in the next couple of months.
